They discussed the Apple Watch, the iPad Pro, the iPhone 6S and 6S+, and AppleTV. Much of it was a yawner for me, but I updated my phone and tablet last year, so, while I saw some new features of interest, nothing got me too excited. So I’m picking the product that intrigued me the most in a list of products I was able to watch being revealed with at most clinical detachment.

From the post title, you know I’ve chosen to talk about the iPad Pro, which was most of what it had long been rumored to be: A larger screened iPad with a 12.9″ screen with an M9 processor chip. Other than that, it’s an iPad. Oh, and has two accessories available that only work with it. A Smart keyboard, and an Apple Pencil. Both look like nice accessories, and I get why the Smart keyboard only works with it (the iPad Pro has a magnetic three button switch on one side that they don’t mention in the specs and bury in the promotional material, but they mentioned it pretty clearly in the launch). The Apple Pencil only works with the iPad Pro, because I think the Pro has a special screen design that allows it to interact. The Pencil has a Lightning connector, and it charges from the iPad. An interesting choice, but I’m not certain I’m wild about it. The Pencil does look intriguing.

The Pro looking like it might be a suitable replacement for a MacBookAir. If that were to be the case, I would have preferred to see a different memory offering than the standard 32G or 128G iPad offering. A 128G, 256G, and 512G offering seems more appropriate, given they are touting AutoCAD as an app it can handle.

I checked on line, and the most my Late 2010 MacBook Air will bring is $200. Anyone want to buy one? I have at least one extra power cord for it (kittens love Mac power cords). I don’t find myself using it (I have too many other options). It’s a great basic Mac machine. I recommend getting a large external USB drive and putting all data and apps on that, or you will have to delete stuff to do basic OS updates.

As for the iPad Pro? I’m going to watch it for the next year or two. I believe it has a bright future, and I believe future iterations of this device will be even better than this one. I may spring for the next generation model or the one after that.

Apple had their big semi-annual product announcement yesterday.
