Calling all Montgomery, Alabama, and surrounding area NaNoers. It looks like we have a small group of folks interested in meeting for some write-ins. I’ve checked with BAM in EastChase, and they don’t mind if we gather at Joe Muggs. So far, the vote is for Wednesday evenings. For more details, check the Alabama: Elsewhere Montgomery Writers? thread at the NaNo site. It sounds like there’s a good-sized group meeting in Auburn on Wednesday nights, too. Check their thread for more details. They have a real, live Municipal Liaison, so they might be better organized. Other Alabama writers? There’s several groups meeting — see if you can find one near you if you’re interested.<\/p>\n
I’ve been hearing KT Tunstall’s song, “Big Black Horse & the Cherry Tree,” a lot lately. I picked up the “Eye to the Telescope” CD today. The song I’ve been hearing appears to be the liveliest song on the album. There’s nothing wrong with the other songs, but they tend to blend together both instrumentally and lyrically. But something about “Big Black Horse” has been calling to me — there’s something in there. I thought it had the inspiration for a fantasy novel, but I wouldn’t know what to write in fantasy. That and Natasha Bedingfield’s “Unwritten” are the only two songs in the soundtrack I set up yesterday the I know belong there. The rest? Most will probably be deleted (460-some is too many), but they’re probables.<\/p>\n
This is my fourth NaNo and the most uncertain to date. All the others, I knew the story that was going to come out. This one? I haven’t the foggiest idea what will emerge from this year’s 50,000 word-plus effort. I can’t wait to find out.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
