I’m just getting started on this challenging lesson, but I think I’m getting the hang of it.\u00a0 I’m on page 11 (of 320) and just found my first unintended promise for the book.\u00a0 There may have been some earlier than this, but I don’t think so.\u00a0 If anything, I’ve bludgeoned the reader with planned promises, but that would be a different problem.<\/p>\n
In addition to tracking down the various promises I’ve made to my reader and noting them, I’m also evaluating my characters to see if they’re living up to their promise of being just the right kind of character.\u00a0 Are they pulling their weight or hogging the show?\u00a0 So far, I think everyone’s on target, but it’s early in the book, and I can only wonder how many more unplanned or unintended promises I’ve embedded in the book.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
