I’ll get this thing down to a short story yet. I keep reminding myself I’m to use this book as a learning tool. There’s so many things wrong, I hardly know where to start. This is going to be a long, ugly process, while I not only find out what works for me, but what works in a book.<\/p>\n
I have a nagging feeling my approach to this book is all wrong. I’m trying to think how many books I’ve read where I have both sides of the story’s POV while I read it–well, except in a couple romance novels I’ve read lately, but this is not a romance. Those were well done, but the main characters were destined to come together. In this case they’re adversaries. I suspect it will either fail miserably or work well. <\/p>\n
I find so many things wrong in this book. I need to remind myself of the things I like about it. I like the characters. I may find out later I’ve screwed them up terribly, but for now, I feel I’ve done them fairly well. I’ve written valid sentences (however, I’m clearing out a lot of fluff). Maybe that’s a stretch, but I have to believe it isn’t all bad. <\/p>\n
I’m ready to head to bed, but I need to finish watching the Spurs end their three game losing streak by struggling to a win at home against the Atlanta Hawks–the team at the bottom of the NBA at the moment (Can’t get Yahoo’s Game Channel to work on Firefox, so I have to tune in on IE). Tim Duncan is a crucial player, but his sprained ankle shouldn’t have hurt them this much. The Spurs are a better team. I suspect these guys are more banged up than is widely known. Manu Ginobili and Devin Brown both only play one way–all out, no holds barred. Manu’s just coming off an injury, and Devin’s recuperating now. Who else is playing as a walking wounded? I suspect that’s a closely guarded secret. They’ve pulled out the win 111-92. That’s good news. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
