I haven&#8217;t decided upon firm goals for 2007 yet, but, as part of the process, I believe a review of 2006&#8217;s goals and how they shaped up is appropriate. Goals are in regular text. Goal status is in <em>italics<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><u>Personal<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Successfully transition to a vegetarian (eventually getting to vegan) diet (<em>vegetarian transition successful<\/em>)<\/li>\n<li>Challenge myself fitness-wise to improve overall fitness level (I have no problem working out regularly; I just don&#8217;t feel as if I&#8217;m deriving much benefit from it) (<em>I worked out, but I feel as if I&#8217;m in worse shape than where I started &#8212; the knee injury and subsequent surgery didn&#8217;t help, but I&#8217;m not pleased with where I am now<\/em>)<\/li>\n<li>Read more books than last year (watch the reading list to track progress) (<em>59 books, and I hope to get one more in before tomorrow night for an even 60<\/em>)<\/li>\n<li>Keep duty performance high at work; keep the boss happy (<em>boss is happy<\/em>)<\/li>\n<li>Even though we&#8217;re 800 miles apart, find ways to keep engaged with hubby (<em>hubby and I are engaged with one another<\/em>)<\/li>\n<li>Keep finding ways to get rid of excess &#8220;stuff&#8221; around the house (<em>some success &#8212; but I have so far to go<\/em>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><u>Writing<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Continue ?on-the-fly? rewriting of <em>Threads &amp; Ties<\/em>, then finish writing (<em>not finished yet<\/em>)<\/li>\n<li>Rewrite <em>Twilight <\/em>incorporating planned changes and what I learn from <em>Threads &amp; Ties (not at this point yet)<br \/>\n<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Rewrite <em>Polar Bear on the Loose<\/em>, incorporating what I&#8217;ve learned from the previous two efforts (<em>haven&#8217;t even started<\/em>)<\/li>\n<li>Brainstorm and plan my NaNoWriMo novel (<em>well, I didn&#8217;t plan it, but the entire NaNo work was an on-the-fly brainstorm session &#8212; probably the only writing goal I accomplished this year, and not a bit of it will ever be salable<\/em>)<\/li>\n<li>Draft query letters (<em>nope<\/em>)<\/li>\n<li>Scrub synopses (<em>nope<\/em>)<\/li>\n<li>Research agents in anticipation of querying after the first three goals are met (<em>I did a very little bit of this<\/em>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As I suspected, I failed at meeting every single one of my writing goals for this year &#8212; I felt as if it was a poor writing year, and reviewing goal accomplishment affirms that. It&#8217;s done. It&#8217;s in the past. I refuse to beat myself up about it. It&#8217;s time to move ahead.
