This caught my attention. I’ve dreamt something at least three times that I can remember now, and it’s bizarre.

I’ve dreamt of a fishing dingy. Then the boat glides past my field of vision . . . and glides . . . and glides. All one hundred forty-some feet of it. Gleaming white. Antennas bristling from the top deck. An open deck in the back. So, what is this thing gliding past my field of vision? I did a search. I found something close.

I need to be perfectly clear: I do NOT want a yacht. I do NOT want a boat. Hubby (sorry, Rosina, I’m trying to find a better reference to him but haven’t found it yet) has no desire for a boat — and definitely not a behemoth yacht. His assessment? I’m dreaming about my life passing me by.

Could be. It’s a classic mid-life crisis analysis, and I’m at the perfect age to be experiencing something like that. I’m also at that point in my career. In fact, some of you may have noticed I’ve been assessing the direction for my life, and it will be changing over the next two years. So far, everything is on track and everything is falling into place. I’m pleased with the direction it’s going. I do believe it’s natural to lament (even momentarily) the things that might have happened that did not materialize. That’s probably what the dream is illustrating– some disappointment for doors or windows of opportunity that have closed or are closing. Or should I say the cruise getting underway without me?

But the beauty of that message? I have no desire to go on a cruise. I’m perfectly happy to stand on the dock and wish the people who enjoy that sort of thing well as they head out to sea.

Thanks to PBW, Dawn Firelight, and my beloved* for helping me to interpret this dream. One more piece of the puzzle falls into place. I’m getting excited about the future.

* Wonderful as beloved is, I can’t use the term without thinking of Toni Morrison. If this doesn’t explain it for you, you need to read the book.

PBW writes about an experience at the shipping place and titles it “Strange Fruit.” One of the commenters mentioned her “strange fruit” usually comes to her in dreams.
