Tamara Siler Jones. Today’s post prompted me to remember one thing I particularly admire about Tammy’s writing — besides it’s solid richness. She’s not afraid to write where the story goes. And the story doesn’t usually go in a nice direction or even one her fans would hope it would take. Faldorrah Burns. That doesn’t imply a good story. Life happens to people, and Tammy allows life to happen to her characters, too. It isn’t always pretty, but it’s honest and true.<\/p>\n
Kurt Vonnegut. For me, he’s the master of first person.<\/p>\n
S. L. Viehl. Sheila Kelly. Lynn Viehl. PaperBack Writer<\/a>. Any of a series of pseudonyms. She’s persistent; she’s continuously improving her craft; she has a wicked sense of humor; and she takes calculated chances with her work. She’s taken some guff recently for the direction taken in her StarDoc series, but she’s had a sound reason programmed in from early in the series’ development, and she’s been true to the storyline.<\/p>\n John Jakes<\/a>. I knew it as the Bicentennial Series, but his Kent Family Chronicles made history come alive for me. Yes, it’s fiction, but it speculates how a situation may have been. Historical fiction writers have a solemn responsibility to be as true to history as possible, because many people will read their work and remember it as fact. Hopefully, they’ll be inspired to study more and learn beyond the fictional representation.<\/p>\n It’s not completely honest about what authors mean the most to me, but my Library Thing author cloud will show at a glance the make up of my recorded collection so far. As of today, it only mostly books added to my collection in the last couple years. I have boxes and boxes of books not catalogued yet.
