Holly’s publishing quest has me thinking.\u00a0 Work has me thinking.\u00a0 TECH is pressuring me to read quickly (because if I don’t, I know I’ll find some letter out of place in his book, and it’ll be my fault it goes national that way).\u00a0 The thought of writing new words still has me shying away (but I figured out why the other day; now I just have to figure out how to overcome that…).\u00a0 So I may as well read.\u00a0 Or at least, buy books, because Lord knows, I have plenty to read here at the house.\u00a0 In fact, I think hubby’s getting a bit worried about my book buying proclivities.\u00a0 But I could be doing worse things than buying books, thinking, and avoiding writing, couldn’t I?\u00a0 Well, maybe not the avoiding writing part.\u00a0 It’s kinda hard to call myself a writer if I don’t write.\u00a0 Seems like that goes against the definition…but I digress.<\/p>\n

  3. Children at Play:\u00a0 An American History<\/em> by Howard Chudacoff (I know child’s play means a whole different thing today than when I was a kid.\u00a0 When I saw an article about this in the NY Times this week, I dropped it in the basket.)<\/li>\n
  4. The New Writer’s Handbook 2007:\u00a0 A Practical Anthology of Best Advice for You and Your Career<\/em> edited by Philip Martin (PBW<\/a> is in this.\u00a0 I can’t miss it.)<\/li>\n
  5. What Got You Here Won’t Get You There:\u00a0 How Successful People Become Even More Successful<\/em> by Marshall Goldsmith with Mark Reiter (I met Marshall a year and a half ago.\u00a0 He’s an impressive man, and, as I overcome my most recent bout of cynicism, I want to hear what this man has to say, because he’s absolutely right.)<\/li>\n
  6. Five Minds for the Future<\/em> by Howard Gardner (talks about the mental abilities that will be required in this century.)<\/li>\n
  7. Small Giants:\u00a0 Companies That Choose to Be Great Instead of Big<\/em> by Bo Burlingham (I’m not so into big, and Holly<\/a> recommended this one.)<\/li>\n
  8. The Dip:\u00a0 A Little Book That Teaches You When to Quit (and When to Stick)<\/em> by Seth Godin (I think I know this, but I want to hear what he has to say about it.)<\/li>\n
  9. Ultimate Survivor, CD by Survivor (I heard “The Search is Over” on the way home from work today, and thought of my hubby.\u00a0 I knew him for a lot of years before he knew the truth of this song — not that he would ever listen to anything this new.)<\/li>\n
  10. All the Right Reasons, CD by Nickelback (PBW<\/a> raves about this band, but I also have been lulled by “Far Away” when it plays on XM’s The Blend.)<\/li>\n
  11. San Antonio Spurs Adidas Primary Logo T-Shirt (What?\u00a0 You need to ask?\u00a0 It’s for Inuit, of course.\u00a0 We get matching shirts, and people think we’re sisters.)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
