now I just have to figure out how to overcome that&#8230;).\u00a0 So I may as well read.\u00a0 Or at least, buy books, because Lord knows, I have plenty to read here at the house.\u00a0 In fact, I think hubby&#8217;s getting a bit worried about my book buying proclivities.\u00a0 But I could be doing worse things than buying books, thinking, and avoiding writing, couldn&#8217;t I?\u00a0 Well, maybe not the avoiding writing part.\u00a0 It&#8217;s kinda hard to call myself a writer if I don&#8217;t write.\u00a0 Seems like that goes against the definition&#8230;but I digress.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s was made it through the Amazon shopping cart wait process to actually get ordered (in no particular order):<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\u00a0<em>Jar City: A Reykjavik Thriller<\/em> by Arnaldur Indridason (I spent a year in Iceland twenty years ago, but it&#8217;s more than that.\u00a0 Read the description.\u00a0 Look at the cover.)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Polar-Bears-Bedtime-Magic-House\/dp\/067988341X\/ref=sr_1_1\/105-8163182-1043637?ie=UTF8&amp;s=books&amp;qid=1187229969&amp;sr=1-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Polar Bears Past Bedtime<\/em><\/a> (Magic Tree House 12) by Mary Pope Osborne (Yes, it&#8217;s for me.\u00a0 Wanna make something of it?)<\/li>\n<li><em>Children at Play:\u00a0 An American History<\/em> by Howard Chudacoff (I know child&#8217;s play means a whole different thing today than when I was a kid.\u00a0 When I saw an article about this in the NY Times this week, I dropped it in the basket.)<\/li>\n<li><em>The New Writer&#8217;s Handbook 2007:\u00a0 A Practical Anthology of Best Advice for You and Your Career<\/em> edited by Philip Martin (<a href=\"http:\/\/pbackwriter.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">PBW<\/a> is in this.\u00a0 I can&#8217;t miss it.)<\/li>\n<li><em>What Got You Here Won&#8217;t Get You There:\u00a0 How Successful People Become Even More Successful<\/em> by Marshall Goldsmith with Mark Reiter (I met Marshall a year and a half ago.\u00a0 He&#8217;s an impressive man, and, as I overcome my most recent bout of cynicism, I want to hear what this man has to say, because he&#8217;s absolutely right.)<\/li>\n<li><em>Five Minds for the Future<\/em> by Howard Gardner (talks about the mental abilities that will be required in this century.)<\/li>\n<li><em>Small Giants:\u00a0 Companies That Choose to Be Great Instead of Big<\/em> by Bo Burlingham (I&#8217;m not so into big, and <a href=\"https:\/\/hollylisle.com\/new-directions-for-me-you-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Holly<\/a> recommended this one.)<\/li>\n<li><em>The Dip:\u00a0 A Little Book That Teaches You When to Quit (and When to Stick)<\/em> by Seth Godin (I think I know this, but I want to hear what he has to say about it.)<\/li>\n<li>Ultimate Survivor, CD by Survivor (I heard &#8220;The Search is Over&#8221; on the way home from work today, and thought of my hubby.\u00a0 I knew him for a lot of years before he knew the truth of this song &#8212; not that he would ever listen to anything this new.)<\/li>\n<li>All the Right Reasons, CD by Nickelback (<a href=\"http:\/\/pbackwriter.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">PBW<\/a> raves about this band, but I also have been lulled by &#8220;Far Away&#8221;
