I was just curious.\u00a0 So I searched.\u00a0 “Blu-Ray” “Apple” on the search window.\u00a0 Interestingly, the intersection of those two terms goes back to at least 2005<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hubby’s new Sony laptop has Blu-Ray capability (and he likes it — says the latest Harry Potter video looks fabulous (not his term)).\u00a0 I plan to buy a MacBook Pro for my next computer acquisition (if you’ve been reading here long, you know this).\u00a0 And I got to wondering…<\/p>\n

Hence the search.\u00a0 Macworld reported in March, 2005, about Apple’s joining the Blu-Ray\u00a0 Board of Directors.\u00a0 That was nearly thee years ago.\u00a0 I wondered, what is going on lately?\u00a0 Sure enough, Apple is still on the Board of Directors.\u00a0 Engaget reported as late as January 3, 2008, about anticipation the Apple would bring Blu-Ray to Macworld Expo.<\/p>\n

Macworld’s been and gone, but I don’t remember hype about Blu-Ray.\u00a0 Macbook Air (the notebook that assumes ubiquitous broadband Internet access — ha!), but not Blu-Ray.\u00a0 Industry buzz said Blu-Ray will be coming to Macbook’s by February.\u00a0 2007.\u00a0 I double-checked the MacBook Pro site — nada.\u00a0\u00a0 The buzz seemed to tie a new drive to the release of Leopard, though, so my hope remains alive that by the time I’m ready to purchase a new computer, it may, in fact, arrive with Blu-Ray inside.\u00a0 Buzz is the only thing supporting that right now, and I’ll just have to wait and see on official word.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
