When we found Jase two years ago, he was a mostly black puppy with a little tan and a light-colored underbelly. As he grew, he changed colors. Apparently, this is a known trait for German Shepherds (I only got curious enough to look it up yesterday). \"Jase<\/a>I thought the coloration on him when we got him in March 2018 was really nice. Here he is in May 2018. Not a lot of change yet.<\/p>\n

\"Jase\"<\/a>But here’s November 2018. He almost looks like a different dog — but still wonderfully cute.<\/p>\n

You can see the tan has spread up to his shoulders and haunches as well as on his head and muzzle. Here he is in May 2019 (back when Scooter would still give him the time of day).<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Here he is this morning (on the right). He’s molting again, and it looks like his “saddle” is about to become more pronounced. The article I read says German Shepherds get their final colors at two years old. Jase turned two in January, yet, he appears to still be changing. (A side note — look at the girth on his tail.
