Sometimes things turn up in the darnedest places.\u00a0 Late last fall, I purchased a fancy digital voice recorder in anticipation of perhaps dictating into it and allowing voice recognition software to translate my eloquent mutterings<\/span> drivel into text.<\/p>\n

I haven’t had much chance to use it, but part of the reason is I misplaced it earlier this year.\u00a0 I had it, then it was gone, and I couldn’t remember where I put it.\u00a0 Did I take it with me when I went to my grandmother’s funeral?\u00a0 If I did, did I lose it at my parents house (no–I checked when I was there in May and the whole house was packed up and moved)?\u00a0 Did I lose it on the plane? Did I leave it at home?\u00a0 Which home did I leave it at?\u00a0 I’d searched two houses and my truck to no avail.\u00a0 That’s the problem with something smaller than a Snickers bar.\u00a0 It’s easy to tuck somewhere and lose it.\u00a0 I was pricing it on line in case I wanted to replace it, and for the current cost, I found myself asking, “Did I really pay that much for it?\u00a0 Yipes.”<\/p>\n

I’d described it to hubby, and he said, “I think I’ve seen that on the mantel.”\u00a0 So I put my concerns aside until I could get back up to Central Texas to check the mantels (there are four of them in this house).<\/p>\n

I came back up today.\u00a0 But first I had to take our winter jackets to the cleaners in preparation for taking them with us on The Great Northeastern Adventure that we’re embarking on soon, because sometimes it gets cold in the Northeast in the fall.\u00a0 Of course, you want to empty your pockets before you take your things to the dry cleaners.<\/p>\n

Guess what I found?\u00a0 Yep.\u00a0 Safely tucked in the inside pocket of my coat.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
