Words have eluded me today.\u00a0 I added less than a thousand to the total today.*\u00a0 About half were garbage filler words, the rest were spent mostly exploring the villain for the story.\u00a0 In the draft so far, he only appears on stage once, and that’s when he gets caught.\u00a0 He needs to be seen around town — picking through garbage cans on trash day looking for aluminum cans and other valuables, fishing in the river, riding his bicycle somewhere.\u00a0 He needs more presence.<\/p>\n
As for the elusive words, that’s just the way things go when you reach the mid-Nano doldrums.\u00a0 The initial wind has gone out of the sails.\u00a0 You’re rowing, rowing, rowing, tacking back and forth trying to catch a breeze.\u00a0 Any breeze.\u00a0 Something that will fill the sails once more to send you skimming on toward the finish line.<\/p>\n
But not today.\u00a0 Today was rowing in heavy seas.\u00a0 I’m tired.\u00a0 Tomorrow will be better.<\/p>\n
