even though evidence from around the world is overwhelming that it isn’t necessarily the best thing for the people. I’m leery of a system where the government decides who is eligible for the limited treatment available. That should be a decision between me, my doctor, and, possibly, my family.

I confess, the beginning of that last paragraph was not my original thought. It was discussed at length on Rush Limbaugh’s radio show earlier today. The next thought was sparked by a caller I heard on Glenn Beck’s radio show this morning.

As I began my drive from San Antonio to Central Texas this morning, I turned the radio on and got Glenn Beck’s radio show already in progress. I heard a caller advocating limited strikes by small business people, and I immediately thought of France. You see, a few years ago, various workers in France would strike regularly for a few hours at a time to make their displeasure with the government known — a government our current leader is trying to emulate which the French government has already advised him doesn’t work. These strikes were usually only a few hours in duration and were well-publicized in advance. Why? The workers didn’t want to inconvenience the public any more than necessary, but they really wanted the government to know they were unhappy. They needed the public on their side, hence the publicity and short duration of the strikes.

As advocated by the caller, if this were well-coordinated, it could have an impact on government without killing the small business people or their customers. I’d certainly say it’s worthy of further exploration. Small business is under attack in this country, and if they don’t act now and gain the support of the population at large, free enterprise and capitalism will suffer irreparable damage.

The only people who should despise capitalism are the people who are too lazy to participate in it. For everyone else, it’s an opportunity to succeed and create a better life for you and your family.

I’m also concerned about the slow rate of disbursement for the funds. But I disagree that they were ever intended to be distributed quickly. See, they’re conveniently planned to be made available in time for e 2010 mid-term Congressional elections — AND they’re going to districts that supported Obama. They get paid back for their support AND encouraged to continue to vote for the pork.

That’s what President Obama said about the stimulus package. If that’s true, things are scary, indeed. He’s planning and hoping for 9.5 percent unemployment with indications it may rise as high as 13 percent or more over the next few months? He’s planning for banks to continue failing? He wants … Continue reading →

{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[30

post-2081","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-politics
["GET
