This is a pretty easy one.\u00a0 I wear a variation of what you see below pretty much every day.\u00a0 Either tan or blue Wrangler painter pants with some form of T-shirt and sneakers.\u00a0 Today’s is long-sleeved, because it’s chilly in Texas (currently in the mid-40s).<\/p>\n

\"What<\/p>\n

Why Ohio State University?\u00a0 That’s where my college career began.\u00a0 It’s the only school I’ve attended in residence.\u00a0 For years, I lamented leaving school before I got my degree, but my path was the path I was destined to travel.\u00a0 Why?\u00a0 I never do anything the easy way, and I never seem to do it the conventional way.<\/p>\n

I was discouraged.\u00a0 In the late 1970s, people with PhDs were working in McDonald’s.\u00a0 Sound familiar?\u00a0 Yes, the US economic system works in a cycle, and all you people with degrees who cannot find jobs are caught in that time of the cycle.\u00a0 Hang in there, don’t give up.\u00a0 It will change.\u00a0 It’s time for you to do something unconventional.\u00a0 Work a job beneath your level of education.\u00a0 Do some entrepreneur work.\u00a0 But, whatever you do.\u00a0 Do something.\u00a0 Don’t cry about how there is nothing out there, because there are plenty of non-livable wage jobs.\u00a0 You might have to do two or three of them — I know plenty of people who do.<\/p>\n

I eventually finished my degree.\u00a0 Twelve years and eight institutions later.\u00a0 Here’s the list:<\/p>\n

– The Ohio State University<\/p>\n

– Community College of the Air Force<\/p>\n

– College of Great Falls<\/p>\n

– San Antonio College<\/p>\n

– University of Texas at San Antonio<\/p>\n

– University of Maryland University College (where I earned my BA)<\/p>\n

– Anne Arundel Community College<\/p>\n

– University of Maryland College Park<\/p>\n

Don’t be afraid to save some money and attend a community college — make sure they have reciprocal agreements with your university of choice to maximize credit transfer.<\/p>\n

The true value of today’s exercise was learning about the three (yes, three) self-timers my camera possesses.\u00a0 It took several shots (usually with me thinking I had the time set, giving up on it, and the picture taking as I walked toward the camera) to get the picture right.\u00a0 My three timer modes are automatic (it recognizes your face and takes the picture — didn’t work for me; I’ll thank you to hold your comments about that — oh, go ahead; can you top what I was thinking?; ten second delay; and 2 second delay).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
