Yes, I sound pretty annoyed lately.\u00a0 I’m not quite as annoyed or frustrated as it might sound, but if these things are bothering me, they may bother one of you some day soon — or maybe it already is bothering you.<\/p>\n
I will say this:\u00a0 I should have emailed Easy Note and HomeBudget backups to myself and restored the original iPad to the new iPad.\u00a0 I believe that would have avoided the problems I’m experiencing right now.\u00a0 I made life more difficult for myself than I had to by not doing that.<\/p>\n
I’ve heard much rumbling about Apple’s Notes App for iPad.\u00a0 It’s kind of a cute, basic app — it looks like a yellow legal pad (that’s one of the things people complain about).\u00a0 It’s great for “jotting” quick notes.\u00a0 I have several items on there that I wanted on my new iPad.\u00a0 Since there isn’t an export capability, I emailed the notes to myself.\u00a0 I opened them in the new iPad and copied the note.\u00a0 I opened Notes and tried to paste the note into the new Notes program.\u00a0 No can do.\u00a0 No pasting.\u00a0 Huh?<\/p>\n
It turns out that’s just one of the “features” this program is vilified for.\u00a0 I began a search for a replacement.\u00a0 I’m not alone in this process.\u00a0 This person listed 18 notes apps he was willing to talk about (he’d deleted many more).\u00a0 He chose WhiteNote, which I looked at, and it looked good.\u00a0 I bought it ($3.99), and I can’t figure out how to paste text into it.\u00a0 Arghhh.\u00a0 At this point, I don’t know if it’s me or the app, but I think it’s the app. The other app I came upon that looks useful for what I was looking for\u00a0 was iDo Notepad.\u00a0 It would let me paste my old notes in.\u00a0 It’s available for free.\u00a0 If you want a few other features as well as DropBox access, you’ll need to buy Neil’s Notepad for $2.99.\u00a0 If you play with iDo Notepad first and decide to get the more robust version, you can export your notes from iDo Notepad directly into Neil’s Notepad (or other text apps it finds on your iPad — it found PlainText, iThoughtsHD, Pages, Evernote, GoodReader, Office2 HD, and Dropbox on my machine).<\/p>\n
I may wind up wiping the iPad2 when I get back to the Mac Mini and restoring.\u00a0 I’ll just need to remember to offload certain files first.<\/p>\n
