I didn’t start logging my reading until mid-year, so I may have lost track of some I actually read this year. I have listed completed books at the Reading List Page–link is top right for future reference. So far this year, I show I’ve completed reading 27 books. I have a few weeks left in the year, so I anticipate finishing a couple more.<\/p>\n
I just finished Skunk Works<\/strong> by Ben Rich. Since my three favorite aircraft are the A-10, U-2, and SR-71, this book made for fascinating reading. Lockheed’s Skunk Works designed and built two of those three. I had forgotten that Secretary Cheney was responsible for killing the SR-71–including ordering destruction of all plans and toolings for the aircraft. For those looking for a reason to dislike him, you need to look no further than that. It’s a fantastic book about how an organization, if they give people appropriate latitude and some basic integrity rules can accomplish great things–things which, to my knowledge, haven’t been equalled or surpassed. We desperately need to have reached the next generation in air and space development. I pray someone in the US has done so and I just don’t know about it. Good book. I highly recommend getting it–if for no other reason than to learn what certain feminine hygiene products were used for.<\/p>\n I thoroughly enjoyed the “Wanting” series by Kathy Love. So far, I can’t say the same about her current vampire series, but maybe I just haven’t sunk my teeth into it yet.<\/p>\n You’ll see numerous entries by our Forward Motion group (Lynn Viehl, SL Viehl, Holly Lisle, Wen Spencer). You can’t go wrong with any of their books–same for Monica Jackson’s books, also listed.
