{"id":3092,"date":"2011-06-04T13:37:08","date_gmt":"2011-06-04T18:37:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/polarbear60.org\/randr\/?p=3092"},"modified":"2021-01-08T20:44:33","modified_gmt":"2021-01-09T02:44:33","slug":"feline-domination","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jeanschara.com\/pmtoo\/feline-domination\/","title":{"rendered":"Feline Domination"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This moment should have told me all I ever needed to know about this cat:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-13083 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/pmtoo.jeanschara.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/DSC00007-1-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Exploration\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/>\u00a0Three Cat leading the way in checking out the area outside the box.\u00a0 And her brother Four Cat was right behind her.<\/p>\n<p>Three Cat became Lady, and Four Cat became Tarzan &#8212; the two kittens we kept from the litter of four Roxy presented us with while she sheltered with us until she found a more suitable home.<\/p>\n<p>Lady.\u00a0 The kitten that arrived two and a half hours after her two older brothers was born and just fifteen minutes before her little brother was born.\u00a0 She&#8217;s the smallest of the four, but don&#8217;t let that fool you.\u00a0 She&#8217;s scrappy (as hubby found out when she shredded his arm when one of the dogs walked up to him while he was holding her).<\/p>\n<p>If that picture wasn&#8217;t hint enough, this should have sealed the deal:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-13084\" src=\"https:\/\/pmtoo.jeanschara.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/DSC00039-1-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Lady falling off box\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/>You guessed it.\u00a0 That&#8217;s Lady falling off the top of the box.\u00a0 She&#8217;d been hanging there for what seemed like a good thirty seconds &#8212; it took me that long to get the camera fired up.<\/p>\n<p>Nothing deters this cat.\u00a0 She&#8217;s adventurous, curious beyond belief, and not afraid to test her boundaries.<\/p>\n<p>She loves cloth and cleaning cloths in particular.\u00a0 Sponges, stainless steel pot scrubbers, towels, socks, dusters&#8230;you name it, this cat hauls it around the house.\u00a0 I&#8217;d just taken a fresh kitchen towel out of the drawer yesterday and either hung it on the oven handle or left it on the kitchen counter.\u00a0 I looked for it a couple of hours later and could find it nowhere.\u00a0 I began to suspect Lady had taken it upstairs.\u00a0 I got another towel out of the drawer and went about my business.\u00a0 Sure enough, when we went up to bed, the towel was in the bedroom doorway.<\/p>\n<p>I have a bookmark I prefer to keep on my monitor &#8212; my friend Tammy Jones made it to commemorate the release of her book, <em>Threads of Malice<\/em>. (Awesome book but not for the squeamish.)\u00a0 Lady prefers to bring it to me upstairs.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve brought it downstairs several times, but I keep finding it in bed. (Yes, I&#8217;m thankful her preference seems to be inanimate objects for now &#8212; I don&#8217;t really want to think about the other things she might bring to bed with her if she has the chance.)<\/p>\n<p>The kittens bring their toys upstairs during the night and downstairs during the day.\u00a0 They aren&#8217;t supposed to be on the table, the kitchen counter, or leaping at the windows.\u00a0 I repeatedly catch them trying to get into things I&#8217;ve put on the counter (yesterday, it was a package of bake sale brownies I brought home, and today is was hamburger I&#8217;d put out to thaw).\u00a0 They have brought numerous items that were on the counter upstairs to the bedroom.<\/p>\n<p>I can only say it&#8217;s a good thing I chose not to have children.\u00a0 If I can&#8217;t teach two seven pound balls of fur any better manners than this, I&#8217;d hate to think what children would have been like.\u00a0 But, like real children, who can resist them when they are asleep?<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-13085\" src=\"https:\/\/pmtoo.jeanschara.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/DSCF0028-1-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Sleeping beauties\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>But I have to wonder if maybe hubby isn&#8217;t right &#8212; maybe Siamese are just the smarter cats (it&#8217;s not that they don&#8217;t get onto the counter, they just know better than to do it when you will catch them).<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"border-radius: 2px; text-indent: 20px; width: auto; padding: 0px 4px 0px 0px; text-align: center; font: bold 11px\/20px 'Helvetica Neue',Helvetica,sans-serif; color: #ffffff; background: #bd081c  no-repeat scroll 3px 50% \/ 14px 14px; position: absolute; opacity: 1; z-index: 8675309; display: none; cursor: pointer; top: 1098px; left: 477px;\">Save<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This moment should have told me all I ever needed to know about this cat: \u00a0Three Cat leading the way in checking out the area outside the box.\u00a0 And her brother Four Cat was right behind her.
