Writers should strive for a Flesch Reading Ease value of between 60-70. The higher the value the easier your writing is supposed to be to read. Interestingly, although someone with a 6th grade reading ability could read the blog, it would take someone with a 9th grade comprehension level to understand it.<\/p>\n

Graduate level writing would be a noble goal; however, that isn’t my audience. I want it readable by adults whose education levels vary. Also, I don’t want people to have to struggle to understand what I say, and I think these levels are reasonable. I do have a tendency to write long sentences. Based upon the readability indices, I think most people can handle them.<\/p>\n
