I&#8217;ve been wanting to get a fig established in Central Texas.\u00a0 The cutting has been doing very well:<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-13026\" src=\"https:\/\/pmtoo.jeanschara.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/DSCF0646-1-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Fig cutting\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It was clearly ready to be transplanted, so I had hubby tell me where he wanted me to plant it (somewhere other than the trash can, please &#8212; he isn&#8217;t wild about the tree).\u00a0 Once that was determined, I got a bag of dirt to mix in with our sandy soil, dug a hole, and planted Mr. Fig.\u00a0 We&#8217;ll be traveling for a few weeks, so I borrowed a drip irrigation tub from our neighbors.\u00a0 We planted Mr. Fig yesterday, and he looks very happy this morning:<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-13033\" src=\"https:\/\/pmtoo.jeanschara.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/DSCF0662-1-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"Mr. Fig\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Want to make a drip irrigation tub of your own?\u00a0 Buy or recycle a storage tub of an appropriate size, stop at your favorite aquarium store (PetSmart will work), and get an air valve and, perhaps, some tubing.\u00a0 Drill a small hole near the bottom of your tub, push the valve into the hole, fill tub with water, adjust the valve for the desired drip.\u00a0 Tubing will allow you to position the tub a little further away from the plant or area needing irrigation.
