{"id":5723,"date":"2012-10-19T19:24:19","date_gmt":"2012-10-20T00:24:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/polarbear60.org\/randr\/?p=5723"},"modified":"2016-12-12T19:58:43","modified_gmt":"2016-12-13T01:58:43","slug":"cats-vacation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jeanschara.com\/pmtoo\/cats-vacation\/","title":{"rendered":"Cats:  Back from Vacation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We got back from vacation on Wednesday afternoon.\u00a0 In time to pick up the cats from jail.\u00a0 Our vet says, &#8220;They know you.\u00a0 They don&#8217;t get up for anyone else.&#8221;\u00a0 I expected them to know me, but I didn&#8217;t realize they didn&#8217;t move for anyone else.\u00a0 I do know they were unhappy to be unceremoniously dumped from their travel crates into the vet&#8217;s kennels before we left, but I knew they&#8217;d be well cared for while we were gone.<\/p>\n<p>Since they&#8217;ve been home, they&#8217;ve all been a little clingy in their own ways.\u00a0 Natasha and Ajax in particular, but even though Lady and Tarzan aren&#8217;t big snugglers, they let us know we were missed in their own ways.<\/p>\n<p>Some of you will remember me mentioning an Orange Marmalade kitten before we left.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not certain I&#8217;ve seen him since I&#8217;ve been back (the vet says there&#8217;s a 75% chance it&#8217;s a male with that coloring, especially if he&#8217;s a little larger in size).\u00a0 While mowing the yard today, I caught a glimpse of an orange and white kitty eating the food I have set out, but it seemed too big to be the little guy I left two weeks ago.\u00a0 I suspect it may have been the orange daddy cat I&#8217;ve seen around here.\u00a0 What I have seen is another little kitten, who is much larger than the little guy I left two weeks ago, but it&#8217;s about the right size to be a sibling.\u00a0 While I think the orange guy might have been too big to be my little fellow, I&#8217;m holding out hope it was.<\/p>\n<p>I walked around the front corner of the house to check the mail this morning, and a more calico-like kitten ran behind the porch steps and watched me.\u00a0 I stopped and talked to her (I say her, because if this is a calico kitty, it has to be female).\u00a0 She watched me closely, but when I tried to move closer, she ran around the house.\u00a0 Several times today, I saw her around the yard, but I could never get too close to her.\u00a0 While she was resting in the front yard this afternoon, I was able to get some pictures.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s the kitten I&#8217;ve been able to see:<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-12909\" src=\"https:\/\/pmtoo.jeanschara.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/DSCF0017-1-169x300.jpg\" alt=\"Kitten\" width=\"169\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This is her sitting up in the inner side yard.\u00a0 I&#8217;m standing in the garage door about twenty yards away.\u00a0 I zoomed the camera as much as it would zoom and cropped this image.<\/p>\n<p>Here she is curled up in what could be a flower bed next to the front steps.\u00a0 I&#8217;m about ten feet away, and she&#8217;s watching me closely.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-12910\" src=\"https:\/\/pmtoo.jeanschara.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/DSCF0023-1-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"Kitten, front\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I walked around the house and was able to creep up on her from behind.\u00a0 I was standing in front of the steps about five or six feet behind her.\u00a0 She was resting comfortably.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-12911\" src=\"https:\/\/pmtoo.jeanschara.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/DSCF0026-1-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"Kitten, back\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>She has an odd coloration &#8212; as if her fur is molting or something.\u00a0 She also seemed to be breathing fairly fast.\u00a0 She moves as if she&#8217;s healthy, but she looks like she needs to eat.
