I’d been pondering the right time to upgrade my iPad.\u00a0 While the Retina MacBook Pro doesn’t strike me as a significant upgrade — at least visually.\u00a0 I had to compare before a regular MacBook Pro and a retina model for several times before I could really tell any difference, and in my mind, I’m still skeptical.\u00a0 But the iPad? It’s obvious and I can tell the difference at a glance.\u00a0 It’s stunningly different.\u00a0 And the camera upgrade is significant.\u00a0 I knew when I bought my iPad2 the cameras were going to be a disappointment.\u00a0 But, seriously, I’m not going to use the thing as a camera that much anyway.\u00a0 But the photos is does take are pathetic.<\/p>\n
When I upgraded, I did it for the long haul, though. I got the max six 64G storage capability.\u00a0 The same storage as on my MacBook Air.\u00a0 Except, I can hook USB drives to my MacBook Air and extend it’s storage capability. Not feasible with the iPad.\u00a0 So a few weeks ago, I was contemplating what would justify upgrading the iPad2, and I decided it would have to be a storage upgrade, and Apple would need to come out with a 128G version at the very least.\u00a0 Apparently, Apple read my mind, because they’ve released just that this week.<\/p>\n
The Retina screen, Lightning connector (I’m embracing this, because I don’t have a large investment in traditional i-Thing adapters), improved cameras, and now, 128G of memory. I still have 20G of memory left on my iPad2.\u00a0 I can’t justify an upgrade.\u00a0 But at least I know the storage concern is addressed.<\/p>\n
But what do I do with my old iPad after I do decide to upgrade?\u00a0 I’m considering giving it to my vet clinic.\u00a0 They use iPads for updating patient records in real time, and I think they broke a couple.\u00a0 They’ve given me a lot of boarding discounts for the cats (usually only charging me half).\u00a0 I know they’re a business, but they also have been very generous in providing services that saved me a lot of money.\u00a0 Obviously, I’ll ask them.\u00a0 But what are some other ideas?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
