Floyd still has clodhopper feet, but his body is nicely muscled and he will grow into it (I hope so, because right now, he&#8217;s in a fascinating out-of-proportion teenager stage).\u00a0 He&#8217;s still the confident, outgoing kitty in the group.\u00a0 He has adopted both Mr. L and me.\u00a0 I was reading in bed last night, and a fish came flying at my head followed by large orange kitten.\u00a0 Floyd was playing catch with himself.\u00a0 He throws the fish and runs to wherever it&#8217;s going to land to catch it.\u00a0 Apparently, this is a sign of a cat with advanced intelligence, and you can see that in his eyes and carriage.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve shown Floyd and Tarzan wrestling, but they also groom each other:<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-12817\" src=\"https:\/\/pmtoo.jeanschara.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/IMG_0128-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Tarzan and Floyd grooming\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I tend to talk the most about Floyd and Rossie.\u00a0 Floyd because he&#8217;s so darned cute and engaging; Rossie because she perplexes me.\u00a0 It seems I need to stop trying to catch and hold her.\u00a0 That may be making the problem worse.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve failed to establish trust with her, and each time I &#8220;grab&#8221; at her, it doesn&#8217;t help the situation.\u00a0 She wants to be near me, but she isn&#8217;t comfortable coming too close yet.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-12804\" src=\"https:\/\/pmtoo.jeanschara.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/2013-03-07-20.50.19-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Rossie keeping an eye on me\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>My chair is inches from the corner of that rug, and she lies about three feet from my chair.\u00a0 Just out of reach.\u00a0 Close enough but far enough she can make a get away.\u00a0 She will come sniff my hand about once per day, then she will back away and sit down.\u00a0 She&#8217;s developing into an interesting looking cat.\u00a0 Do you see the copper stripe down her back and the rich, dark tan square on her right chest area?\u00a0 Really pretty.\u00a0 And those eyes. Curious.\u00a0 Questioning.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s another shot of Floyd and her at the food towers:<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-12803 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/pmtoo.jeanschara.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/2013-03-04-08.50.42-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Rossieand Floyd\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Rossie likes cheese.\u00a0 Yesterday, we had a special moment after I&#8217;d shared some cheese with Rossie and some of the other cats.\u00a0 She took some off my finger.\u00a0 After we were done cheesing, Rossie was sitting near me &#8212; just out of reach again.\u00a0 Ruby was also in the area, so I stroked Ruby.\u00a0 Rossie looked interested (I&#8217;ve been not trying to catch her for a couple of days now, so she has only been talked to).\u00a0 I held out a finger, and Rossie came over to sniff.\u00a0 I resumed stroking Ruby (Ruby was enjoying this).\u00a0 Rossie stayed close by.\u00a0 I stuck out my finger again, and Rossie sniffed it and allowed me to rub her ear.\u00a0 I resumed stroking Ruby.\u00a0 Eventually, Rossie rubbed against my hand, and I took turns stroking Ruby and Rossie, careful to leave Rossie wanting a little more.\u00a0 After our session, she&#8217;s made it clear that won&#8217;t happen just anytime, but Rossie definitely wants human attention, and I think, if I keep ignoring her but being open to her approaching me, we may reach an agreement.<\/p>\n<p>Delta has been sometimes sleeping with us.\u00a0 She spends more time with Mr. L, but she&#8217;s showing definite signs are &#8220;sharing&#8221; us.\u00a0 We&#8217;ve noticed the kittens that have been raised by both of us, Tarzan and Lady and now Floyd and Delta have a tendency to share the two of us, while Ajax (raised by Mr. L) spends most of his time with Mr. L and Natasha (rescued by me) spends her time with me. Ruby hasn&#8217;t shown definite signs of this yet, but I think she&#8217;s trending in that direction.\u00a0 Rossie, if any loyalty can be said to be there, is siding with me for now.\u00a0 Rossie may be like Natasha and be a one person cat.\u00a0 Although, Natasha, after seven and a half years with us, just started asking to get on Mr. L&#8217;s lap, and she&#8217;s letting him pet her all over.\u00a0 That&#8217;s a significant breakthrough with her.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"border-radius: 2px; text-indent: 20px; width: auto; padding: 0px 4px 0px 0px; text-align: center; font: bold 11px\/20px 'Helvetica Neue',Helvetica,sans-serif; color: #ffffff; background: #bd081c  no-repeat scroll 3px 50% \/ 14px 14px; position: absolute; opacity: 1; z-index: 8675309; display: none; cursor: pointer; top: 178px; left: 440px;\">Save<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The kittens are maturing.\u00a0 When they strut through the house, they carry their tails proudly.
