We’re pulling into New Orleans tonight.\u00a0 Based upon what you’ve heard about the cats — ferals and otherwise, what would you guess they would be doing today if they were home and lounging about the house instead of cooped up in a cage at the vet’s?<\/p>\n
The cages are essentially condos, dividable into four separate cages or opened up to allow full access to all four spaces.\u00a0 Usually, the staff gives each cat as much space as the boarding load will allow.\u00a0 There are two units of these located in the front entry to the clinic, so the kitties occupying these condos see everyone coming in or going out of the clinic.\u00a0 People talk to them, so they have a lot of stimulation opportunities. If this bothers some kitties, they have other condo spaces in the back, usually reserved for surgical patients, but not always.\u00a0 When Roxy and her kittens were there, they were all in the back to give the newborns and the protective mama plenty of privacy. Sneaky stayed in the back when she was there for her spaying an protective quarantine (Sneaky was pretty freaked out by the whole experience — they knew she didn’t need to be seeing a ton of other people).<\/p>\n
During this time, Sneaky has been home guarding the house (I hope).\u00a0 The feeder has been dropping her food every late morning.\u00a0 The water tower is available, filled with fresh water.\u00a0 She has the yard to roam, chasing down lizards, geckos, and that pesky gopher or two that keeps making dirt mounds in the yard.\u00a0 Mooch is probably visiting, keeping her company. I hope she has managed to stay safe during this time.\u00a0 I always worry about the outdoor kitties.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
