{"id":6734,"date":"2013-10-28T13:39:35","date_gmt":"2013-10-28T18:39:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/polarbear60.org\/randr\/?p=6734"},"modified":"2016-12-12T13:26:56","modified_gmt":"2016-12-12T19:26:56","slug":"photo-and-kitten-makes-10","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jeanschara.com\/pmtoo\/photo-and-kitten-makes-10\/","title":{"rendered":"Photo: And Kitten Makes 10"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Saturday night, prior to an approaching storm which appeared to contain hail, we took the trucks to the shop and tucked them in.\u00a0 Then we walked back to the house.\u00a0 When we came around the corner of the gym at the high school, a white kitten was in front of us.\u00a0 Mr. L attempted to catch it, but it wasn&#8217;t going to be caught.\u00a0 We resumed walking home, but the kitten followed without letting itself get caught.\u00a0 When I got to the house, I went inside and brought out a paper bowl, a can of Fancy Feast, and a carrier.\u00a0 Alas, the kitten did not let itself get caught, so it was stuck outside during a tremendous storm we had later that evening.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday morning, Mr. L rode the bike to the shop and brought back a truck.\u00a0 When we began to leave for breakfast, the kitten re-appeared (dry, so it knew enough to get out of the rain).\u00a0 Mr. L went back inside to get it some food (I&#8217;d fed the food from the night before to Sneaky, who thoroughly enjoyed it).\u00a0 When I checked the mirror to see where the kitten was, it had followed him onto the porch.\u00a0 When he came out with the food, she began eating.\u00a0 When we returned from breakfast, she was still there. Mr. L used Ajax as a bait cat to lure her to him.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-12678\" src=\"https:\/\/pmtoo.jeanschara.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/2013-10-27-09.50.25-1-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Ajax and Kitten\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once he had her, she didn&#8217;t resist, and we were able to put her in a carrier with her food and return Ajax to his regular household duties.<\/p>\n<p>We quarantined her in a comfortable cage in the garage, which turned out to be a good thing, but not for the main reason we did it.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-12679\" src=\"https:\/\/pmtoo.jeanschara.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/2013-10-27-10.27.10-1-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Isolation Cell\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/p>\n<p>She had her visit to Dr. Valeri this morning, and she&#8217;s negative for Feline Leukemia (Yay!), but she has ringworm.\u00a0 Based upon the state of the ringworm, Dr. Val thinks the kitten has been on her own for some time and nobody will be looking for her (Dr. Val has been uncannily correct about these things through the years.).\u00a0 She&#8217;s estimated at three and a half months old, which puts her as being born in mid-July.\u00a0 She&#8217;s a cuddler.\u00a0 When I pick her up, she just snuggles.<\/p>\n<p>But she&#8217;s in quarantine for the next three weeks.\u00a0 Ringworm is contagious, and we don&#8217;t want the other cats getting infected, so it&#8217;s a good thing we&#8217;ve kept her isolated.\u00a0 Mr. L was very disappointed, though.\u00a0 When I left for the vet, he&#8217;d moved her crate into the house in preparation for beginning the process of introducing her to the family.\u00a0 It&#8217;s moved back out to the garage for now, and our very sociable kitten will have to wait a little longer to get more attention.<\/p>\n<p>She doesn&#8217;t have a name yet. Suggestions?<\/p>\n<p>(And yes, upon hearing the ringworm diagnosis, both Mr. L and I felt our faces and scalps itching.\u00a0 I&#8217;m sure it&#8217;s psychosomatic &#8212; as I&#8217;m sure that little itch you&#8217;re starting to experience is the same.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t worry. It can&#8217;t transmit through the internet.
