<\/p>\nThis isn’t representative of him at work.\u00a0 We stopped into the shop on Thanksgiving morning after breakfast, because he wanted to install a part he’d painted for the Jeep transmission, transfer case, power takeoff unit a few days before.\u00a0 I think this part bolted onto the transfer case, but I’m not positive.\u00a0 He hasn’t started working on the power takeoff unit yet, but I thought he was done with the transmission. I think the transfer case bolts onto the transmission, though, and I think this particular part is the one the universal joint bolts to (for those of you well-versed in transmission lingo, that probably tells you what you need to know — everybody else would be confused either way).<\/p>\n
He has his winter coat on, but it wasn’t that cold in the shop.\u00a0 I think it was about 50 when it was in the 40s outside.\u00a0 We were only there for as long as it took it to tighten four bolts and make one minor adjustment to the parking brake, so there was no need to remove his coat.<\/p>\n
As you can see, the lift makes a very nice workbench.\u00a0 When he finishes the work on the transmission assembly (why don’t I just call it that for brevity?), he’ll clear the lift and load the Jeep onto it to make it easier to do the installation without having to slide around on the floor.\u00a0 The Jeep is to the left outside of this picture.<\/p>\n
Yes, that is baling wire in the foreground.\u00a0 Interestingly enough, it’s an officially sanctioned wire to hold certain parts together.\u00a0 Now you know.<\/p>\n
