I sighed as I picked up the latest lost cause from my front porch.  This time, I was determined to have a happy ending.  This plant would live. How, I did not know, but I would find a way.  It wasn&#8217;t dead yet, I didn&#8217;t think.  I looked really, really wilted, but there were traces of green on it.  I felt the dirt.  Really dry.  I added water.  Partial sun, the little tag read.  I&#8217;d put it in my kitchen window.  I never got direct sun, but plenty of light came though.  I plucked the truly dead leaves from the plant and tossed them in the trash.  That was the best I could do right now.  All I could do was wait.<br \/>\nDay 2.  Maybe the plant would come back from the dead after all.  It looked less wilted today.<br \/>\nDay 3.  Today, it looked positively perky.  Should I water it?  No.  The book said to wait a week.  I hoped it would work.<br \/>\nDay 4.  It was leaning toward the sun.  Was it too early to rejoice?  Probably.<br \/>\nDay 5.  Is that&#8230;.could it be?  A hint of new growth?  Oh, my!<br \/>\nDay 6.  I felt the soil?  Should I water it?  The book says seven days.  I clamped down on my eagerness.  The plant still looked good.<br \/>\nDay 7.  I watered, careful to not overdo it.  The plant looked a little wilty, but not seriously.  Once I added the water, it perked up almost immediately. I puffed out my chest.
