Mr. L pulled out his metal detector last week and walked around the yard with it.\u00a0 He found junk auto parts from the previous owner, then he found something at indicated it was rather large.\u00a0 He began digging.\u00a0 What he found was a metal ring, as if someone had buried a pipe vertically or a small metal drum.\u00a0 He dug a little more and found a pipe with a shut off valve.\u00a0 This pipe runs to our side yard faucet that sticks above the ground about three feet near the driveway.<\/p>\n

We’re not sure where the main line runs into the house, but this looks like it was the original shut off valve.\u00a0 Was it for more than the side faucet? We’re afraid to even try to turn it for fear we’d break the pipe (that would be a bad thing).<\/p>\n

To make it easy to regain access if we ever need it, Mr. L fashioned a cover for it and re-buried it.\u00a0 I snapped this photo before we began filling in the hole.<\/p>\n
