She left the Air Force shortly after that, and we stayed in touch. I visited her a few times when she lived in Michigan, but then we lost touch. Imagine my surprise when I learned she was living in a small town near my parents &#8212; actually in the town my parents had just moved away from when they bought their home a couple of years ago.  <\/p>\n<p>We arranged to meet while I was visiting my parents for this trip, and it was fun to catch up. We met for lunch and had to leave the restaurant to make room for the dinner crowd &#8212; and for me to meet my parents for dinner. We didn&#8217;t run out of things to say, and we didn&#8217;t spend too much time rehashing &#8220;the old days.&#8221; I can&#8217;t speak for Ellie, but I don&#8217;t remember a lot of details from that far back anyway.  It&#8217;s nice when you can pick up where you left off with a friend, even after many years.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Thank you for visiting for the April A-Z Blogging Challenge.
