{"id":979,"date":"2013-04-20T00:39:23","date_gmt":"2013-04-20T05:39:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jeanschara.com\/?p=979"},"modified":"2013-04-20T00:39:23","modified_gmt":"2013-04-20T05:39:23","slug":"reading","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jeanschara.com\/pmtoo\/reading\/","title":{"rendered":"Reading"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My mom made it a point to read to me as a toddler.\u00a0 She read to me so much, that I could &#8220;read&#8221; back to her at an early age.\u00a0 <em>Go, Dogs, Go!<\/em> by Dr. Seuss was one of my favorites. I loved dogs from an extremely early age &#8212; my blankie was my doggie.\u00a0 I remember those book sales at elementary school.\u00a0 I brought home a book about Curious George (remember my fascination with monkeys).\u00a0 Most kids are expected to read in the children&#8217;s section from the library until after sixth grade.\u00a0 I&#8217;d read everything there by the time I finished fourth grade, so I had approval to check books out from upstairs &#8212; the adult section.<\/p>\n<p>My father is a voracious reader, and I must have gotten my love of reading from both my mom&#8217;s efforts with me as a toddler and my dad&#8217;s example.\u00a0 I&#8217;m still stunned at family members who &#8220;hate&#8221; to read, but then I remember my sister and I were the only real avid readers among us kids.\u00a0 So, I shouldn&#8217;t be so surprised that some of my nieces and nephews aren&#8217;t as enthusiastic about reading as I am.<\/p>\n<p>I try to read a variety of genres and mix fiction with non-fiction.\u00a0 I certainly have enough interests in life, so I can read a whole lot before I exhaust interesting supplies of reading material.\u00a0 What about you?\u00a0 Love or hate to read?\u00a0 Read a single area or widely?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My mom made it a point to read to me as a toddler.\u00a0 She read to me so much, that I could &#8220;read&#8221; back to her at an early age.\u00a0 Go, Dogs, Go! by Dr. Seuss was one of my favorites.
