Not Much to Say Today
First day back at work after vacation. Most of you know that’s no fun.
My 6 week post-op follow-up with the orthopedist today went fine. He says the knee is what it is; won’t get any better; deal with it. I figured that was the answer (he put it more tactfully than that). I found it interesting we both estimate it has 15 years before we’re looking at more surgery (replacement, most likely). My goal is to prolong that.
I asked him about my carpal tunnel symptoms in the hands. He disagrees; says they’re more consistent with arthritis. Sigh. Says wait and see how they pan out. Right thumb is bothering me today. The rest is mostly OK. Funny how the pain migrates. Either way, I’m still seriously looking at Dragon Naturally Speaking.
I figure my desktop machine needs a replacement before it will do well, but maybe a complete overhaul of the C: drive would accomplish the same thing. What ever prompted me to think a 14G C: drive would be more than large enough? 197M of free disk space is not enough for efficient swap space with Windows–and I’ve moved all I can to the 80G. At least my other hard drive is 80G–it has 34.8G of free space. My 40G USB drive is nearly full (back up files).
