Back in the Ether…
Thank you to each of you who offered your condolences about Magellan. I still miss him. Pericles misses him. I know hubby misses him. Hershey has become a lapdog (OK, he always was a lapdog, but he didn’t get a lot of chances to practice). Whenever he can be, he’s next to me. We take a morning and evening twenty minute walk (has been good for both of us). We’re experimenting with leaving him in the kitchen during the day while I’m at work and overnight. So far, so good.
I have boxes piled all about me. My stuff was delivered today–eventually. Even with the goat rope that packing and shipping has been, it appears only the usual damage has resulted. I’ll know more as I begin unpacking and putting stuff away.
So much has happened since I last posted. The Supreme Court personal property decision has caused me the gravest concern. I’m no Constitutional scholar, but I think the Constitution is pretty clear that what they said was OK is definitely NOT.
The Spurs are the NBA Champions. Yay! (Of course this means Inuit should be coming home soon–I think she went to Disneyland or something. Where will I find room for her? Fortunately, imaginary polar bears don’t take up much physical space.)
So far, I really like my new job. They give me lots and lots of books, and I get to read them. Of course, they do expect I will retain what I read and impart that knowledge to the students. That will require work, but at least I’m familiar with the subject. That’s more than I can say about what I was responsible for over the last three years.
I did hear back from my trusted reader on PBOTL. Great, great feedback on things I can do to make the book salable . Lots and lots of work required, but I expected that. I’m in about the same spot on Twilight–still getting in touch with my inner villain. I’ve been distracted for the last couple weeks and haven’t done any work on either of them. I may get some time this weekend when I take breaks from unpacking.
There’s so much more, I’ll post more later as I get better grounded.
Sorry about your kitty, Magellan. It hurts to lose a loved pet.
But good luck on the new job and most of all, on unpacking! Yrick! I think that’s what they do in hell, unpack forever. It would be just as bad as rolling rocks, I think. Will cross fingers for you that it goes fast and smooth.
Welcome back. Jean. I’m glad you got your stuff and that your new job is a good one. π
