Synopses Marathon
Forward Motion is having a Synopses Marathon this weekend. (I believe you’ll need to be logged in to view that thread.)
I haven’t marathoned in awhile, but this is an area where I need work. It also gave me an opportunity to practice critiquing others’ work. In theory, it’s easier to critique someone else’s work, but in reality, it’s still not that easy.
I’d hoped to get more synopses prepared than I did, but I’m not disappointed with what I did accomplish. I had the 8 pager for Threads & Ties, and I condensed it down to a one pager. Those were comparatively easy. Then I drafted a one pager for Twilight. It was rough, but the marathon participants helped, and I don’t think it was as bad as it seemed at first.
I received some excellent feedback on all three pieces and have been able to revise the Twilight one pager and resubmit it.
I still have a five pager to develop for Twilight as well as one page and five page versions for PBOTL. I should trim the Threads & Ties 8 pager to five, but, for now, it’s my outline, so I’m not going to trim it much.
I’ll get more done tomorrow. I need to get some filing done, but I suspect I’ll be using synopses work to procrastinate on that task–that’s what I did today, anyway.
I’ve been needing to get some filing done for the past, let me see, five years or so.
Synopses vs. filing – I’d choose the former any day.
WooHoo! Yes, the marathon was a great run. I appreciated both opportunities, to get feedback on my own offerings, and to be able to crit others’. Glad you were able to join in.
