Attention to Detail
I just learned a co-worker lives on the same street I do. If it were, say, Broadway in New York, this wouldn’t be a big deal, but my street is, technically, one block long, and, realistically, about two and a half blocks long. I’ve lived here for six months. I walk my dog every day. Until earlier this week, I didn’t have an inkling (and I’m not certain he does yet).
The other night, we happened to pull out of the parking lot at work at the same time. We got on I85 East at about the same time. Somewhere between there and my exit, we got separated. I pulled up to the stoplight at the exit, and he was in front of me. No big deal, several people live out this way. Things got very strange when he made every turn in front of me on my way to the house, and my street ends in a dead-end cul de sac, and he was in front of me when I turned into my driveway.
I checked records at work, and sure enough, his street address is the same of mine. His house number translates to about five houses away from me.
And I thought I checked our roster for anyone in the office who lived near me shortly after I got here. How did I miss that one?
Maybe he moved there recently?
I checked. No.
Update: Actually, he did. From the address on the recall roster to a lower house number on the same street. But still! Six months, and I hadn’t noticed before this.
See, now I read the comments and it’s really starting to sound like stalking 🙂
Nah. I can see his house from my mailbox though–it’s right where the street curves into the deadend cul de sac. It’s only handy to know in case of an unexpected vehicular malfunction and needing a ride to work.
