Specialist Justin O'Donohoe
Justin, 27, was one of ten soldiers killed when the CH-47 Chinook helicopter he was riding in crashed in Kunar Province, east of Abad, Afghanistan, on May 5th. He was the older son of Pat O’Donohoe, whom I worked closely with in my last assignment. His father spoke of both of his sons frequently with well-deserved pride (his younger son, Kyle, is in Navy Flight School). In my experience, they are a close-knit family who well understand the dangers of military service. None of that makes it any easier when those dangers strike so close to home. Please keep the O’Donohoe family in your thoughts and prayers as they begin to live life without Justin.
God bless.
I’m deeply sorry for your friend’s loss. Nothing makes up for the pain of losing a child but I hope he can find some comfort in remembering that his son was doing a damn noble thing. My prayers are with the family and my thanks as an American, to all of them, for stepping up and doing the job.

No matter how you feel about war, either in general or this one in particular, the death of a young man is an unmitigated tragedy. Please send the family my hope that they can find peace.
