Postal Surprises
Squeallllll!! (yes, that’s out of charcter for me, but listen…) My copy of Stuart MacBride’s Dying Light came in the mail today. (If you order via the Amazon link provided, you can get it direct from the UK instead of having to wait for the more expensive American edition to be released on August 8 — mine swam across the pond in record time.)
I opened the book and fanned it. I stopped on the title page (I’m left-handed, so I fan from back to front) and noticed a “largish non-random stray blue mark.” I thought, “Hey! I wonder if that’s a signature.” I got my glasses. I looked more closely. Yup. Somebody had definitely written on the title page. Eventually, I looked at the front cover (I love the UK covers, by the way. The US covers aren’t nearly as intriguing to me). Duh! There’s a sticker that reads, “Signed by the Author.” (Stuart has a unique signature) So, how cool is that? I ordered a book, and it arrived signed. Thank you, Stuart. You made my day.
I loved Cold Granite. I’m so excited to have Dying Light before I go home on vacation this weekend — it wasn’t supposed to get here until the 13th. And it’s signed!
