Bingeing
I binged at Amazon.com this week. Oh, my. Did I ever. Books. CDs. DVDs. iPod’s 8G nano. A case. Lee Child (five of them — and I’ve never read him before; he better be good), Sasha White, Maria Giordano, Vikram Seth, and Brandilyn Collins for the books. The Kyle Eastwood CDs, including his new release Now (so new RealPlayer doesn’t have the track listings, and I had to enter them manually). The fourth season of Hogan’s Heroes and Million Dollar Baby rounded out the DVD selections.
The new nano? Gorgeous. (Remember, my old one only had half a usable screen, so it isn’t hard to thrill me.) I’m waiting for the iSkin folks to come out with the new case.
And my new refrigerator doors came this week. If you’re familiar with in-the-door ice dispensers, you’ll understand what I’m about to tell you. There’s a small flap that keeps the outside out and the inside in. When that flap doesn’t work, frost and more builds up inside your freezer. My flap got “tired” and would only close manually, and usually not tightly. After a brief discussion with my landlord, we agreed a service call from GE was in order. Imagine the pleasant surprise when I learned there’s been a recall, and GE would replace the doors at no charge to me (my landlord). I should be able to get them installed within the week. One of the cartons was damaged — I hope the contents were ok; otherwise, that will add an additional delay. I’ll let the GE guy sort it out.
There’s been entirely too much excitement this week. I think a feel an attack of the vapors coming on. I better go rest.
This post makes me want to shop. Yes, I don’t wear skirts, but I love to shop.
Wow. That’s a lot of shopping. And here I am dreading buying a couple pairs of pants. But then again, it’s not really the buying them that bothers me, it’s the shopping at the store. And since my current pants don’t fit so well any more, I need to actually go try on clothes. Ugh.
Buying pants is not shopping. That’s work. Finding something I like that fits well that looks decent on me — well, that’s the improbable dream. Jeans aren’t quite so difficult, but clothing, well, I can see why people embrace nudity. But that brings other problems.
Finding jeans for work is work. I get dirty, and need cheap jeans. Either the crotch is a low-rider, the butt is fluffy, or the legs are too small for the waist. I hate hean shopping.
Thanks, guys. I think we women tend to believe clothes shopping is easier for you, but you’ve each blown that myth wide open for me today.
My hubby loves shopping for jeans. He sends me to Work Wear World FOR him! 😛
Anyway, while you’re recovering from your vapors, Jean, at least you have lots of books to read!
LOL, Val. Mine is most particular, so I let him shop for himself.
I HATE shopping for clothes! And my husband is more particular about what he wears than I am…
Die Trying is my personal favorite of the Jack Reacher novels, but there are number of really good ones, and only a couple blehs.
Die Trying was one of the books I got. I just ordered Into the Wilderness tonight.
Into the Wilderness was my first novel, remember. The story is solid but I have improved book by book on the craft end of things.
Hope you enjoy it.
I’ll remember that. But it’s the first in the series, right? When I can, I like to start at the beginning.
Yes, it’s the first. I’ve had dozens of people tell me they started with the third or fourth novel and had no problem doing it out of order, but most people do like to read from the beginning.
You’ve got eclectic tastes (at least it seems you do from your book list). Hope you enjoy it.
