NaNo Day 5: 12,024
Rattling around clicking out words. Nothing new on characters or plot today, but theme exploration is coming nicely — remember, this year’s NaNo is all about regularity. Writing regularly. Finding my way. Given some of the headlines, it shouldn’t come as too large a surprise that one of the themes which arose today was sexual misconduct. A snippet of thought on that matter after extrapolating current thought patterns to a potential logical conclusion:
How long before it’s acceptable for elementary school teachers to date and have sex with their students — as long as they aren’t in the class they’re actually teaching?
Conformance was one of the other themes. Here’s a comment related to conformance and taking the road less traveled (remember, it’s raw first draft — parts of this are less elegant than I’d prefer):
Because, really, how do we know we’re taking the road less taken or being just like every other rebellious teenager who believes they’re different from everyone else even while they are desperately fighting for conformance with their peer group? Are we that much different as adults? I don’t think so.
Still nothing happening with Sakura and Rotikkans. Maybe that’s meant for another time, or maybe today’s musings will tie in later.
Wow, you are giving me writer’s envy. Way to go 🙂
