I’m Back
Some kind of crud has hold of me and is making me miserable, so I haven’t been around to check out your Snippets yet.
It was a good week. Got some yard work done. Got some floors cleaned. Almost lost hubby’s truck in a new “water feature” on the ranch — four hours of harrowing not so much fun rescuing it. A stuck truck is stuck, whether it’s a 4×4 or not. Thank heaven for wonderful neighbors who don’t think twice about dashing out with their tractors to pull someone out. Casualties? Passenger side running board and most likely one cell phone. The cell phone is sort of working, but they don’t respond well to getting soaked. The display is intermittent at best at the moment.
The day after the water excursion, my sinuses began feeling stuffed up, and my throat became scratchy. By Friday night, I was miserable. We did get to see the grandkids, and that was fun. Saturday, I didn’t get out of bed unless absolutely necessary. Today, of course, I had to fly home. I have a cough, light congestion, and a tickle in my throat. My mouth? I’m not sure what army tromped through there, but they could have left the place at least as neat as they found it. Oh, yes, and my favorite, poison ivy, has sprung up on my forearm. As long as I can keep it from spreading, I should be ok.
I hope to feel better tomorrow. Hubby and I got time together, and I got some great examples for raising stakes this week. Isn’t that what life as a writer is all about? Finding new ways to raise the stakes for our characters?
Hey, welcome back! Sorry to hear about the truck and the malaise. I hope you get better soon and can enjoy time with hubs 🙂
Ohhhh I do hope you feel better. My mother-in-law just fought a nasty bout with poison ivy. (I think she lost… it lasted forever and spread and blah. But she’s better now.)
I’m glad you enjoyed the time away, at any rate.
I went to sick call this morning and was quite surprised at the pharmaceutical collection I came home with — to include a day of quarters (which I’ve spent most of in bed and will return to shortly). Still low grade fever, cough, and congestion, but I have something to attack it with now.
For the poison ivy, I’ve begun the steroidal treatment, and I see it retreating already.
As for the truck, a new running board and a change of rear end fluid is on tap for tomorrow, and she’ll be good as new. Cell phone is still iffy. We may replace it when hubby visits this weekend if it isn’t behaving yet.
I hope you get to feeling better soon. Now, even! 🙂
Feel better soon!
