Doors, Top Bows, and Karaoke
As you can see, I have returned. We did not secure a sink. We looked at several nice ones, but we have not decided. We did get two doors, though (yes, we needed them).
Friday afternoon and Saturday morning, we walked the Southwest Swap Meet, hunting for ’46 Mercury parts. We chatted with friends and exchanged tidbits. We bought a small antique gas heater, and, on Saturday, got a few more parts we needed that the guy who sold the heater didn’t need. We also got to see pictures of his house and the work he’d done to restore it.
While admiring the top hardware for a ’46 Mercury Convertible (we already have a set), we met someone new. Hubby is passing along identifying information for window regulators. The guy we met has a whole Suburban full, but doesn’t have the detailed information for which ones go with which cars. Hubby has that information. These are the moments that make trudging along row after row of Chevy parts worthwhile.* I was not enthusiastic Saturday morning about another boring day of walking the aisles, but when we have the opportunity for exchanges like this, it’s suddenly very exciting.
Friday night, we spent at Little Pete’s Lake Grapevine. My granddaughter sang a mean karaoke. Her mother did a couple of good numbers, too, and they even sang a duet — I was impressed. I can’t say I was surprised; my husband is musically talented. Why wouldn’t his progeny be equally talented? On Saturday, we went to Grapefest in Grapevine with the kids.
Today? I had to go back to work. Ugh.
*There’s nothing wrong with Chevy parts — if you’re a Chevy enthusiast. We have three ’46 Mercurys, a ’48 Ford F100, and two Korean War era Jeeps. Hubby will maintain he’s found some of his best Mercury parts in a pile of Chevy stuff, so I’m just the grumpy one.
Welcome back!
You’re a better woman than I! Especially if the weather is hot, getting me to trudge is a Herculean feat!
I spent the afternoon with my almost-17-year-old son buying a cell phone. I’m due for a new one and looked, but they’ve really changed. I didn’t understand half of what my son said to the salesman. How can I be so out of step so quickly?? LOL
