Day 23 — 39,000
Whew. I’m one thousand words short of my goal for today but further along than I thought I’d be. Only eleven thousand to go until I win NaNo. I’m getting a solid biography of my main character and am getting closer to finding the story. There are some pieces that will be usable in what I’ve been writing, so that’s good.
Cheryl has used being good as a way to try to get people not to abandon her all her life. She’s lost her mother. She’s been withdrawn and quiet. She’s been a good student. She’s not attracted attention to herself. She’s lost her father. She’s not showing any grief for the recent loss of her father. Something is going to trigger her to show emotion. What is that something? I don’t know yet. When I get to the point where she snaps, that will be the trigger for everything else. I haven’t found it yet, but it’s coming. Something will set this teenager off.
