Work. Work. Work.
I’m trying to get my various jobs unloaded to whomever is going to replace me after I retire. Two people have been identified for one of the jobs I do, but one of the two is “too busy” to do the few things I’m asking him to do in preparation for taking over — I have a plan to enlist his boss to help resolve that (unless he decides it’s more advantageous to him to do so). The other one has made some effort. (Funny, I don’t see either of them there at 6:30 – 7:00 am when I drive up. Nor are their cars in the parking lot when I leave twelve hours later to head for home.)
We did solve one critical problem last week, and it clearly required significant leadership on my part to do so. After watching three of the people who work for me wander the building in a fog searching for coffee for weeks/months, I called them together and put the plan in motion to get a coffee pot and accouterments in the office. Mission accomplished — Tuesday morning we had coffee.
The rest of the stuff we’re working on isn’t quite so simple, but coffee is a starting point.
