Best in Show
I watched the last half of a fascinating sporting event this evening: The Westminster Dog Show. Last night I was hanging on the Spurs every play, but tonight, I tuned into the Dog Show. I love the working dogs, and fortunately, I got to watch them compete tonight. Loved the Great Dane, the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, the Bernese Mountain Dog, and the St. Bernard. The Weimaraner was superb. There were several other simply wonderful dogs — most of them in the Pedigree commercials for shelter dogs — this girl is gorgeous.
And who could resist the crowd favorite: Uno the Beagle — 2008’s Best in Show. Upon learning he was a winner, Uno did what all self-respecting beagles do: He barked and bayed. He stood proudly for the crowd’s standing ovation. Uno is one handsome beagle. This marks the first time a beagle has won Best in Show — it’s also the first time a beagle has won the hound group*.

Uno was so adorable!
I prefer working dogs, too. My dad had an Australian Shepherd that was a great dog. She was so smart!
Happy Valentine’s Day!
