Presidential Running Mates
This question is becoming more pressing. Whether we get McCain, Obama, or Clinton as our primary choices, the real question becomes, who will their running mate be? David Brooks, op-ed columnist for the NY Times addresses this question. Will we get someone designed to help someone win the election, or will we get someone who can make a difference in the next Presidency?
Frankly, the more important factor than who the person who becomes president is lies in who he or she surrounds themselves with as key advisors. Is it someone who can become a completer for the president? Will it be someone who can counter the new president’s weaker aspects? Or will it be someone he or she can pat on the head and stick in a corner somewhere? That would be a mistake.
Mr. Brooks suggests possible contenders. Who are you thinking would do the job well?
