NaNo Day 7: 12783
Most of today’s writing has been brainstorming for the new direction I found. I was justifiably disappointed with the direction of the story until, while my main character was musing about the problems he faces, he hit upon what the real story of the book is. It’s much bigger than his impending Ice Age on his parallel dimension Earth (he’s here to research how to implement Global Warming in an effort to reverse the direction on his Earth). The real problem is what will happen if the other Earth dimensions find out about each other. Actually, I suspect This Earth is “the last one to know.” The other dimensions have been using “This Earth” as an inter-dimensional rest area.
I’ve been applying the “How to Think Sideways” principles in this rework, and I thing it will allow me to keep working on the fly. The NaNo count is on track. The tools in yWriter4 have been great for writing — I think they just may rival Scrivener as long as you don’t mind a less graphic interface.
Speaking of Scrivener, I did pick up a Mac Mini last night. Also picked up a MS ergo keyboard, Logitec LX3 mouse, iWork, the Visual Thesaurus. Fortunately, I did remember to bring the video cable to my LCD panel that I brought with me on the trip just in case I had a chance to pick up the Mini while I was here.
