Hershey, Jan 2001 – Oct 2009, RIP
We lost Hershey in a driveway accident this afternoon. He got too close to the wheel as hubby was backing out. No external injuries, but Dr. Valerie diagnosed a broken pelvis (fixable) and a severed spinal cord just above the base of the tail (not fixable). She hoped the break was close enough to the tail where he would still be able to urinate and defecate appropriately, but it was not.
I brought his body home, and we buried him under the cedar tree in the side yard. I considered the ranch first, because he loved being out there, but hubby was afraid something would dig him up out there. Here he is from a few years ago, lounging against the fence at the Alabama house.
Here he is before we could bring him home. His eyes had just opened.
Jean, I’m so sorry to hear this. Your heart must be breaking. I’ll be thinking and praying for you.
Contact dermatitis and now this? You’re making my Mother Hen heart want to come down there, cook comfort food, and generally fuss over you. Please be careful and take some down-time. If things usually come in threes, I’d really like for the third thing to pass you by.
