Things Substitute for PC
I’ve mentioned my fascination with the Mac program called Things (also available for iPhone/iPod Touch) that I use to implement David Allen’s Getting Things Done philosophy. It works great, but my Mac is a Mini and I don’t haul it with me when we head to San Antonio for a couple of weeks, so I lose track of some things. Sure, I could use a paper list, but I’ve grown accustomed to using a digital system. As a result, I did a quick search for something quick, easy, and free when we got down here after Thanksgiving. I found something simple, basic, free, and on-line. It’s called TODOIST. I’ve used it this week to track several tasks and multiple projects, and it’s worked great. The most recent list is a pantry list to track the things we want to keep stocked in our pantries. I also created lists of things to do in the yard, in the house, anticipated expenses for next year (just the big ones), a list of things hubby wants me to remind him about, and a general catch-all list. I added the tab to my standard page for Firefox, and I can easily access it and update it at any time.
If you work in a mixed environment or if you want to be able to access it anywhere, give this site a try.
Is it synced for viewing on multiple computers like the Firefox bookmarks can be? It looks intriguing, but there isn’t an overabundance of information on the site prior to sign-up. Or am I under-caffeinated again and missing something?
Never mind! I got another cup of coffee and things became a little clearer.
I’m EJ and I’m a caffeine addict.
There isn’t much to the program. It works intuitively. On line only, so if you bookmark it on multiple computers, it’ll be there.
As far as I can see, it does the same thing as my Palm. I haven’t played with it too much yet; I was good and did some work yesterday instead of playing with it. If I move away from the Palm phone this might be more helpful.
You’re right. It’s not much different from the Palm To Do list. For some reason, I just don’t like the Palm ToDo function. I’ve used it, but I feel confined by it for some reason. I know it’s all in my head…
