Piling Up
My Bloglines reads are piling up again. I read certain ones but am letting others sit. My Lexulous and Scrabble games are staying current. I need to finish Week 4 of HTRYN. There’s a lot of stuff going on.
The roof installation is complete at the shop. Hubby and I got the invoice yesterday, so we drove to the credit union at the next town over and cleaned out the account to pay for it. We had lunch to celebrate.
We moved the Woodie body to the shop yesterday. That opened up the middle bay of the garage. We moved the chipper/shredder over there, and hubby’s installing the new blades (the old blades are still pretty sharp, but we had to replace some significant plastic parts, and while we’re doing that, it seemed like a good time to replace the blades. We’ll sharpen the original ones and have them ready as spares.
Did I mention we moved the piano from the trailer to the living room? No? Well, we did. Next we need to load to clawfoot bathtubs into the trailer in preparation for taking them to the architectural antique place in Gonzalez, TX, to see if we can match any of their clawfoot tub feet to our tubs.
I got most of the household shredding done today. One more box of stuff to do. Five eight-gallon trash bags of shredded paper will go out with the trash tomorrow (no recycling in this town). The shredder overheated, and I needed to let it cool down, and I didn’t get back to it to finish the job today.
I also rebuilt the second toilet yesterday. While doing that, I discovered the water shut off valve from the wall couldn’t shut off, so I had to replace that. I’m not as pleased with the end result on this job as I am with the one hubby did a few months ago. He says this toilet brand isn’t as good as the other one, and that seems to impact it, but at least it isn’t running all the time. I have two dripping outside faucets to replace, so I’ll get that done in the next few days, I think.
This is my favorite time of year in Texas. Temperatures are very comfortable, and I love working outside.
Wow, you are a superwoman! BTW, the current political climate has Eric talking about moving back to *The Great State* in hopes that we’ll be settled before y’all secede!
You’d be welcome here! Might have a house to sell in San Antonio — Cyber Security is big there, and there might be some options. Depending upon how soon you want to move would depend upon how much work you’d have to do on the house. Unfortunately, it’s only 2 bedroom (large), one bath. About 1700 sq ft. though. Solid. Built in 1941. Grin.
He’s talking 2-5 years. We have to get Vicky through high school first, and the housing market here still leaves a lot to be desired. We have a few repos in our neighborhood.
Gee. By then we should have been able to get the roof replaced (want to get that done this year if possible) and the bathroom redone (we’ve had the fixtures for a couple years now). And we might have everything out of the house. More grins. Our timetable is incredibly flexible and slow for getting that place ready to sell. We’re in no hurry.
Sounds like my father. He’s been ‘gonna sell the house’ for ten years now!
Wow. You plumb, too! You ARE the ideal woman! 🙂
I try. I replaced all the outside faucets today. I can use basic hand tools pretty competently, so tasks that require those are usually things I can do.
Basic plumbing is pretty simple. I wouldn’t presume to take the place of a pro, but there are lots of simple plumbing tasks.
