New Spam Approach
I just noticed a new spam approach. Akismet caught it, but when I checked Akisment, the comment looked real. The suspicious part of it was the URL included with the comment identification. I marked it as Not Spam, but when I was looking at it to approve the comment, I realized the words looked very familiar. In fact, they were my words. The spammer copied and pasted a paragraph from a comment (which just happened to be one I wrote) into the spam comment field.
I re-marked it as Spam and sent it on it’s way, but that one almost slipped through. If I had a very busy comment section, I might have missed it — especially if the spammer hadn’t copied and pasted a comment I’d written a day or two before, so it was fresh in my mind.
Spammers are getting craftier. Akismet knows what it’s doing.
