Broken Links
I read about a Word Press Plug-In that finds broken links in your site. Since I moved Rantings and Ravings from one URL to another a year or so ago, I knew I had to have broken links, so I installed the plug in and put it to work.
It found 330+ broken links through out the site. I’ve been wandering around and either deleting the link (mostly to those stupid quizzes that were all the rage a couple of years ago, and now the sites are defunct). I did a wholesale swap of the old site URLs for new site URLs in an attempt to fix a few problems — I knew it wouldn’t fix everything, but now I know there is something that requires more effort to deal with.
It’s surprising how many commenters from years ago have deleted their Blogger or LiveJournal accounts. Those showed up, so I simply deleted the link.
It’s an interesting exercise. I have numerous errors from sites I know are currently operational, so I’ll wander around at my leisure and see what needs fixing with them.
