An Interesting Alliance
Hubby and I observed something surprising the other day. I know I’ve mentioned that Natasha isn’t fond of Ajax in these spaces before. She’s more tolerance of the kittens. The kittens get along with both Natasha and Ajax (and of course, each other). Ajax enjoys “tweaking” Natasha by violating her personal space preferences.
Natasha was sleeping on a kitchen chair the other day. Ajax approached her but Tarzan jumped off the chair he was sleeping on and made a barrier on Natasha’s chair between her and Ajax. He sat there for a few minutes until Ajax wandered off, then he jumped down and went back to his chair.
Hubby and I both observed this interaction. We raised our eyebrows to one another and said, “Interesting.” Hubby mentioned, “It will be interesting to see if he does it again.”
Well, tonight, Natasha was sleeping on her chair again. Ajax walked into the kitchen, and Ajax jumped up on the chair next to her and watched Ajax the whole time he was in the kitchen. It could have been a coincidence, but when Ajax walked back to leave the kitchen, Tarzan turned to form a barrier between Ajax and Natasha. He stayed with Natasha until Ajax was gone from the room.
Natasha didn’t object to Tarzan being there. Tarzan and Ajax get along fine, but it’s interesting to watch Tarzan running interference on behalf of Natasha. I think he may be doing it, because when Natasha gets agitated, she has coughing spasms. By keeping Ajax from hassling her, she stays calmer and has fewer coughing spasms (she has a touch of asthma, we think).
